Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Rekonify ("the App"), a macOS application provided by Rekonify ("we", "our", or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and an active subscription, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on macOS devices associated with your Apple ID for personal or professional use.

2. Account and Authentication

You must sign in with your Apple ID to use the App. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID. Each subscription is tied to a single Apple ID and may not be shared with others. Using shared or fraudulent credentials to circumvent subscription requirements is prohibited.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

  • Plans: Rekonify is available as a Monthly ($19.99/month) or Yearly ($199.99/year) subscription.
  • Billing: All payments are processed by Apple through the Mac App Store. Prices are in USD and may vary by region.
  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
  • Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through System Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. You will retain access until the end of your current billing period.
  • Refunds: Refund requests must be directed to Apple, as they process all payments. We do not have access to your payment information.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the App
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright or proprietary notices
  • Use the App to access drives or data you do not have authorization to access
  • Share, sublicense, or distribute the App or your subscription credentials
  • Attempt to circumvent subscription verification or licensing mechanisms

5. Data and File Access

The App provides read and write access to EXT4 filesystems on external storage devices. You acknowledge that:

  • You are solely responsible for the data you access, modify, or delete using the App
  • We are not responsible for data loss resulting from file operations you perform
  • You should maintain backups of important data before performing write operations
  • The App only accesses removable storage devices you explicitly select

6. Privileged Helper

The App installs a privileged helper daemon to access raw disk devices. This helper:

  • Requires administrator authorization during initial setup
  • Only accesses removable storage devices (not your Mac's internal drive)
  • Runs with the minimum privileges necessary for disk access
  • Can be removed by uninstalling the App

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its code, design, graphics, and documentation, is owned by Rekonify and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Your subscription grants a license to use the App, not ownership of any intellectual property.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL REKONIFY BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time for violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your license to use the App is immediately revoked. Sections 7-9 survive termination.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time by updating this page. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

13. Apple-Specific Terms

These Terms are between you and Rekonify, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the App. In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price (if applicable); Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims related to the App or your use of it.
